Ideagen-a new idea generation initiative to stimulate and support the next wave of new business in the South-East region of Ireland-has just been launched (October 6th 2009). Threesixty has been working closely with Enterprise Ireland on the branding and marketing communications for the initiative including promotion through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Linked In. Was interviewed yesterday by Ed Power of The Independent who was looking for my views on why Apple has become the UK’s favourite brand. Well I started quite rationally talking about how great brands engage on an emotional level and have really cracked it when you feel that the people behind the product/company share the same values and have the same general vision for life. We also talked about the shift from push branding strategies (traditional advertising etc.) towards community based branding (social networking, focused sponsorship, peer-to-peer recommendations etc.).
